About us

Symbolic Orchestra produces European music without historical, geographical or ideological borders.

We are a group of mostly classical graduated string players - enthusiasts that run the Symbolic Orchestra. We also want to explore diverse styles of European music in terms of history, geography and performing skills, that we couldn’t learn at school. Through the group Terrafolk, which had a big international success (BBC World music award, 10 years of touring…), we started to discover more and more, we travelled, took lessons from balkan Gypsies, Scandinavian folk fiddlers, Irish friends, jazz composers...

Our main philosophy is the decision whether we should create within our free time or do we have to cut our free time to do that? We prefer the first, although, in reallity, they are the same thing.

Where is the border between 'first' and 'second' music?
